Introduction
Halloween has always been my favorite holiday of the year. I love the spooky decorations, cooking with pumpkin, the mysterious atmosphere that surrounds everything, and the time of year it takes place—October 31st. It feels like the season when nature slowly drifts off to sleep, ready to wake again in spring.
Inspired by these reflections, I’ve designed a pattern that I’m offering for free, so you can enjoy stitching it as much as I did.
Materials Needed
To complete this cross stitch project, you’ll need:
- A piece of 14 ct. Aida fabric. I used black, but any color will work beautifully.
- DMC Mouliné threads (the classic DMC embroidery floss) in the following colors: ECRU, 722, 900, 3346, 3348, 3799, 3820, 3862
- Size 24 tapestry needle
- Embroidery hoop (optional)
How to Customise your Free Cross Stitch Pattern
Here are some ways you can personalize this cross stitch pattern:
- Use variegated or sparkly threads in orange tones for the pumpkins
- Use glow-in-the-dark thread for the ghosts
- Frame it in a hoop and add it to your Halloween corner
- Stitch it onto a jacket or pair of jeans like a patch
